[ as people begin to trickle back into the populated parts of the colony, steven's pokémon do the same - all without their trainer. their natural instincts can lead them to a point, but each of them have other humans in cerealia that they've bonded with; ones that steven told them to rely on, should they ever be separated.

in skarmory's case, it's adrien. while the rest of the pokémon have all gone their separate ways upon reaching the main colony once again, the steel bird stays by his side in silence. he knows that its fellow teammates are going where they feel safest, but he himself feels safest with the young man.

when the others have dispersed, he turns to adren and gently bows his head to him. it's an oddly docile movement, but it's one of trust. ]

[ honestly, the message isn't meant to be anything special. steven, being the good not-big brother he is, just wants to check up on adrien to make sure all is well. it just so happens that CERES has been kind enough to bring another one of his partners into the colony, and this is an easy way to introduce it. carbink is still trying to get used to the new setting (especially after having to be dug out of the ground), but it's more than comfortable with staying in steven's lap.

but as much as steven would like them to, things with his more curious pokemon rarely go as planned. he's about to call adrien before beldum distracts him with something, leaving his cerevice open while highlighted over the young man's name. while he's still gone, the rock floats upward to tap the holographic button with its head, starting the call.

when adrien picks up, he won't see steven on the feed, but a floating, living rock with a fluffy collar, twitching its ears curiously. how odd! ]

[ he could be talking to nobody, but... well, it's been three days. athena had told him that if he had disappeared for the reason that others had in the past, he should be back in the colony by now.
