Ha ha. Yes, I get it.
:)

[ this is only his third time using an emoticon - be patient with the dad texting. it really did make him smile, though.

honestly??? he might get it, but i literally have no idea because pokemon would never address that so i'll just assume that he can infer from the context. ]

It's just one more thing we'll have to investigate.

Is it really that out of place to see from me?

[ :( ]

I gathered that.

[ he's just a delicate flower. be gentle, not!son. ]

I hadn't seen the need to before, but someone I know convinced me to use them every once and awhile.
I suppose you could say they... "rock"?

Please don't take my abilities for granite, Adrien. If you intend to make this a challenge, you will lose.

[ he usually keeps the geology puns under wraps for when he's had a few too many, but he knows adrien won't go blabbing about this and shatter his cool public appearance. ]

I'm beginning to learn that.

[ ( ron swanson voice ) I know what I'm about, son. ]

I'm afraid I'm ahead of you by a mylonite. Unless you're aware of various different types of geological specifications, you'll find your apatite for competition severely lacking.

[ yep. ]

Of quartz you would say that. Now that you know, consider it a learning opportunity. You stick to your bismuth, and I'll stick to mine.

Unless, metamorphically speaking, you'd like to admit to your faults when it comes to this particular knowledge? I'm willing to start with a clean slate.

I did warn you, but don't feel too discouraged. You showed some good initiative.

[ don't fucking mess with the rock maniac. but that second part does make him raise an eyebrow. "stone heart"? ]

Care to elaborate?

I wish you the best of luck with that endeavor.

[ you'll need it, kiddo. but he appreciates you trying. ]

I see... I suppose asking what kind of rock it he was made of would be missing the point?

[ at least he's self-aware. ]

Well, that depends on the context. If one was looking for the toughest and most optimal exterior for fighting, metamorphic rock would be the best. Slate is the first thing that comes to mind due to its natural water resistance, but again, context could mean a different material could be better... A quartz sandstone, perhaps.

[ he's honestly, seriously thinking about this. ]

[ i honestly don't know what he expected either. ]

In that case, I'm sure sandstone will do. [ :) ] Though regardless of what it was made of, I do hope that things turned out well for you in the end.

[ back to dad mode. ]

Very astute of you, Adrien.

[ yes, he's teasing. he just does it in a roundabout way that no one expects ever. but he was being half-serious too, so ??????? it is a mystery. ]

With luck, yes. If anything from what I've seen, you've settled into your role quite well.
